Skylight Cleaning
Salt aerosol settles on Palisades skylights every single morning. We strip the coastal haze from both faces and leave the glass genuinely clear again.
Local Conditions
Pacific Palisades skylights face a problem inland homes never deal with: salt. Marine fog rolling off the bluff carries salt aerosol that settles on horizontal glass overnight, and because salt draws moisture out of the air it never fully dries. The result is a soft, faintly tacky haze that dulls a skylight within weeks of cleaning and grabs every particle of dust and pollen that blows past. Add the bluff-top wind, sandy grit, and the sprinkler mineral spotting common on the flat streets below Sunset, and horizontal glass here needs a shorter cycle than almost anywhere in Los Angeles.
We pre-soak Palisades skylight glass to dissolve bonded salt before any agitation — dry-wiping salted glass drags grit across the surface and risks scratching. Exterior faces are then soft-washed with purified deionized water, hand-detailed at the flashing and seams where salt concentrates, and squeegeed dry so nothing spots. Interior glass is cleaned in the same visit with floors protected. We check gaskets and hardware for salt corrosion, clear the curbs, and can add a hydrophobic treatment that slows how fast the haze comes back.
We work coastal Los Angeles daily, from the Palisades bluffs to Malibu, so we know how differently salt behaves from ordinary dust. We're licensed and insured, experienced with the steep driveways and hillside roof access typical here, and we offer quarterly programs — the cadence that actually keeps oceanfront-adjacent glass clear, since salt exposure can't be prevented, only managed.
